Alecrim 50 Gallery, together with Associação Cultural Inventário, is pleased to present Projecto Rastilho I, curated by Cíntia Gil, including the exhibitions of Francisca Carvalho and Nuno Gueifão.
One of the fundamental ways of interest of the culture association Inventário is creating opportunities for intervention in portuguese artistic context, supporting and promoting young artists whose body of work reveals a consistency which allows a fruitful dialogue with various artistic agents. Inventário seeks to reinforce the idea whereby the first exhibitions of these artists are moments of particular importance not only for the dynamism and expansion of the portuguese artistic spectrum, but also for the work´s maturation. A double interest exists as its fundamental aim: enable the concolidation of these artists´carreers and propose to the artistic agents think the first exhibitions as projects that imply specific accuracy and care that must pass through the monitoring of a curator.
In 2010, Projecto Rastilho I arises in this context, upheld by Alecrim 50 Gallery through an intervention in an alternative space in Rua da Alfândega, 108 - 2º, in Lisbon.
This space, an old office in a 18th century building in down town Lisbon, was adapted to this exposure draft but still keeping its own challanges and characteristics. Thus, Projecto Rastilho I presents itself also as an effort of dynamization and revitalization of empty spaces in the city center that may momentarily integrate the circuit of visual arts in Lisbon.
Projecto Rastilho I first exhibition will be "O assalto violento do burro", drawings by the artist Francisca Carvalho, from 12nd of March until the 11st of April. On the 16th of April will open "A picture of my father in drag", by the artist Nuno Gueifão, until the 15th of May.

"Teresa Gonçalves Lobo - Drawing", this solo exhibition opens on the 9th of October 2009 at the French Cultural Institut in Vienna, Austria. A selection of thirty works on paper with china ink, charcoal, pastel and color pencil and charcoal, until the 9th of November 2009.

Alecrim 50 - Modern and Contemporary Art is a member of APGA, the Portuguese Association of Art Galleries (see http://www.apga.pt/ ) since 1 April 2009. This new step consolidates the course of Alecrim 50, inaugurated in 2006 already with 7 solo and 6 group exhibitions. The gallery's artistic project, developed by Alexandra Serôdio Gomes and Pilar Norton dos Reis, believes in promoting artists of the current art scene as well as 'hunting' for new talents.
"Chiado After Work" is an initiative of the Association for the Recovery of Chiado, with the support of the Municipality of Lisbon promising pleasant afternoons in Downtown Lisbon. "Skip the rush hour, enjoy dinner before going to the theater, or simply relax with friends in the late afternoon." This concept aims to boost activity in the Chiado area. Restaurants and bars offer extended opening times with events and special menus for the period from April 2 to May 6. Some shops are also open until 8pm. Be sure to see the cultural offer: Alecrim 50 integrates "Chiado After Work" with the solo exhibition of Sofia Aguiar, "The Minzah Collections," until April 30. A great way to relax and have fun in one of the noble areas of Lisbon.
The Minzah Collections is Sofia Aguiar's individual exhibition opening at Alecrim 50 at the end of March, showing the artist's recent works. Living between Lisbon and Tangier, Sofia has brought together a collection of canvases with vases of different styles, from oriental to Lalique and neo classical style. A contemporary look over objects of collection from a distant and nostalgic world. The Minzah Collections, exhibited in Tangier last January, arrives in Lisbon this Spring.
